Safety

we* are here to deliver power to you, safely

It's hard to imagine not having electricity and we largely take it for granted in our day to day lives. But electricity can be dangerous and needs to be treated with respect.

At Wellington Electricity we take the safety of our customers, employees, contractors and the wider community very seriously.  Simple precautions taken within the home or near our distribution network can greatly reduce the likelihood of an accident involving electricity.  Download our booklet below which provides a guide to safe working practices when working near our electricity network and provides information about the services we have to help you.

For further information on living safely with electricity, please visit the Energy Safety website.

Wellington Electricity also offers a safety programme for children, called Stay Safe Around Electricity. For more information on our programme, email staysafe.

Wellington Electricity also has an interactive website called Electrical Safety World, where your children can play games and learn about electricity. The site includes information and checklists for you to help them learn about electricity in and around the home. Visit Electrical Safety World.
